Fiction Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell This is a truly remarkable book. The descriptive writing and the carefully constructed scenario are superb. So many concepts in this book are now everyday phrases (ironic since Orwell himself despised the use of clichés or common phrases by authors) that it is worth reading just so you understand what 'Room 101' really means. Elephants Don't Sit On Cars by David Henry Wilson I guess this is really meant to be a book for children however don't let that fool you: it is one of the funniest muses on the relationship between adults and children that I have ever read. I know that the chances are slim that anyone will actually go out and buy this book because of my recommendation but I really think you will enjoy it. If you don't then send me some abusive email. If you do like it then email me to join the un-official Jeremy James fanclub. |
