Work Experience Web Site/Multimedia Development for Business Systems Mapping (Summer 1998) Business Systems Mapping supply a software tool called QMAP to the likes of Land Rover, Royal Mail and British Aerospace. QMAP is a package that has facilities for costing procedures, re-engineering/re-designing processes and real-time communication between employees. Working closely with the Managing Director I undertook the development of a web site (http://www.daly.co.uk/bsml/) and multimedia CDROM with the aim of enhancing the sales and marketing of QMAP. To manage all aspects of the project (including software requisition, design of graphics, production of written media and making and editing videos of clients) I utilised my planning skills and worked to stringent deadlines. At all stages I had to communicate my ideas to others in the company who later commented that I was able to ‘…fit in very well as a member of a small team.’. My work for Business Systems Mapping formed part of the Shell Technology Enterprise Programme and was organised through Lincolnshire TEC. All projects were judged (based on a presentation and report) and I went through to the regional finals. On completion of the project the Operations Manager noted that I had demonstrated excellent in-company communication whilst one client had commented on my maturity and professionalism. The Operations Manager also wrote in the company evaluation that I was ‘…determined to succeed…’ and at the same time ‘…resilient and flexible.’. |
